Welcome to Aequilibrium, the personal site of Joseph A. Almeida. I am a structural engineer and independent researcher in the northeastern part of the United States. This site is intended to chronicle my academic work, personal projects, and miscellaneous writings. My current academic work leverages nonlinear numerical methods and large experimental databases to inform the development of ductile fiber-reinforced concrete mechanics and design code. Other research and personal interests of mine include programming, computational mechanics, fiction and nonfiction books, and writing.
